The first photos of the electric crossover Audi Q4 E-Tron SportbackSeptember 22, 2020
Automotive publications have published “spy” pictures of the electric crossover Audi Q4 E-Tron Sportback. The prototype of the novelty was rather heavily camouflaged. The crossover could debut before the end of the year.
Next year, Audi will begin offering not one, but two all-electric crossovers. One is the Q4 E-Tron and the other is the coupe-like Q4 E-Tron Sportback. We’ve seen Q4 prototypes before, although this is the first time we’ve seen a Q4 E-Tron Sportback. Audi announced a concept version of the Sportback back in July with short overhangs, a spacious cabin and massive fenders.
The test car in the “spy” photos is rather heavily disguised. However, oddly enough, two parts of the rear bumper are visible.
The test car is indeed similar to the previously shown concept, with streamlined shapes and an upright front end. The headlights look the same both in shape and design. The same cannot be said for the taillights, which seem to retain the concept’s shape but have their own unique interior design.
The Q4 E-Tron Sportback shares the platform with other VW Group EVs such as the upcoming VW ID.4 and the unveiled Skoda Enyaq iV. It will be somewhere in between the Q3 and Q5 crossovers, although it should have more interior space than the mid-size Q5. We do not know what powerplant it will use, but we do know that first it will be offered with a single engine driving the rear wheels, and then a twin-engine version with Quattro all-wheel drive will be on sale. The concept featured an 82-kilowatt battery and two electric motors, giving the crossover 201 horsepower (225 kilowatts).
Audi said the coupe crossover concept could travel 450 kilometers on a fully charged battery (WLTP cycle). We expect the Q4 E-Tron and Q4 E-Tron Sportback to go on sale next year. Audi could unveil both cars by the end of this year or early 2021.
Not so long ago, we wrote that a powerful Audi RS3 2021 sedan is being tested at the Nurburgring. Western publications have published photos from tests of a high-performance Audi RS3 sedan of the 2021 model year. It is expected that the novelty can get power under 450 hp. The prototype was partially disguised.
