The first fully electric crossover Kia e-Niro will appear in Europe at the end of the year.October 3, 2018
As part of the Paris Motor Show, which today, on October 2, 2018, opened its doors to journalists, the European premiere of the Kia e-Niro crossover took place.
The first Kia all-electric crossover show was held in South Korea in May 2018, but it was then presented a version for the home market. Today in Paris debuted an electric SUV intended for the European market.
Kia e-Niro on a single charge can travel up to 485 kilometers (calculated on the WLTP cycle), the capacity of the electric vehicle battery is 64 kWh. On such a battery in urban traffic conditions, the power reserve can reach 615 km, the company noted. Another battery option, with a capacity of 39.2 kWh, allows you to drive up to 312 km on a single charge.
The European version of the electric Kia with a smaller battery will receive a 136-hp electric motor. Dynamics of acceleration from zero to hundreds of kilometers per hour will be 9.8 seconds. Cars with a more capacious battery will have a 204-hp electric motor. With this engine from a place up to 100 km / h, the “socket” car will accelerate in 7.8 s. Drive at the SUV can only be the front.
“Stuffing” Kia e-Niro inherited from the electric version of the Hyundai Kona. With a smaller battery and a less powerful motor, it gains the first hundred in 9.3 s, and with a more capacious battery and a 204-horsepower electric motor – in 7.6 s. In this case, in the first case, the power reserve per charge is approximately 300 km, in the second, approximately 470 km.
The first fully electric Kia crossover will receive a fast-charging system that will allow you to “charge” a larger capacity battery up to 80% in 54 minutes.
In Kia, they said that the new car warranty, which applies to the battery and electric motor, will be 7 years (or 150,000 km, whichever comes first).
Production of the new Kia e-Niro is arranged at the South Korean car factory of the company. It is known that sales of new items in some European countries will begin towards the end of 2018.
