The premiere of the novelty will be held next year. The electric car will perform in the style of the concept car 40.2, presented in 2016. Previously, it was assumed that the first electric car Volvo will be the green version of the compact crossover XC40, but such a car will appear later – after the hatchback.
The novelty will be based on the modular architecture of CMA, developed jointly with the Chinese company Geely. The chassis design provides for the installation of four-cylinder petrol and diesel units, as well as electric motors. It is assumed that the hatchback can drive without recharging the batteries to 500 kilometers.
According to preliminary data, the cost of an electric vehicle will be 35-50 thousand dollars. The novelty will compete with the electric hatchback I.D. brand Volkswagen.
