The first crossover Rolls-Royce will be presented at a private event this summerJanuary 25, 2018
The British luxury car maker Rolls-Royce intends to present its first crossover to potential customers at several closed events this summer. Later in the autumn his premiere will be held for the public. This is reported by the publication Autonews.
The project of the first SUV from Rolls-Royce is code-named Cullinan. The serial model will change its name. The company hopes that the crossover market will help raise their annual sales figures above 5,000 units. After the absence of the Phantom limousine in the market last year led to a drop in this indicator by 16 percent to 3,362 copies.
Unlike luxury crossovers of other brands, the Cullinan platform is unique for the Rolls-Royce brand. According to the company’s top management, borrowing massive architectures undermines the exclusivity of their brand cars.
In Rolls-Royce they know that their customers do not want to get a car built on the platform of a cheaper model. This is radically different from the owners of Bentley Bentayga, built on the architecture of Audi Q7, Porsche Cayenne and Lamborghini Urus.
Under the hood of the first SUV from Rolls-Royce expect to see the same V12 engine with a twin turbocharger, like the new Phantom VIII. This motor develops 571 horsepower and 900 Nm of torque.
