The Germans do not plan, in case of approval, to design the X8 according to the type of models X4 and X6.

While the full-size crossover BMW X7 has not yet been presented in a series production, the automaker is already analyzing the prospects for the release of another large SUV. It’s about X8, which can become the most luxurious off-road car of the German brand. The decision on whether X8 will get a green light, will be taken this year. This is reported by the resource BMW Blog with reference to the company’s insider.

The first rumors about the BMW X8 appeared in November 2017. And now they begin to acquire details. If a positive decision is made, the serial model will be released in a few years and will enter the segment of elite crossovers. It already contains Bentley Bentayga and Lamborghini Urus, and soon they will be joined by Rolls-Royce Cullinan.

However, before, BMW marketers want to find out whether the demand for such a novelty will be from the concern, which will take its place in the model range at the very top, above the future of the X7.

BMW has already confirmed plans for an ultra-luxurious four-seater cross-over X7 with individual rear seats. Therefore, the BMW X8 has to offer a different luxury to the buyers. The company does not want to make the X8 a standard cross-coupe with a very sloping roof type X6.

The novelty will be provided with a very large space above the heads of the rear passengers to provide them with maximum comfort, as in the representative sedan 7 Series. Thus the silhouette of a body of a crossover will be similar to liftback, as at Panamera.

Recall that BMW decided to stop the production of gasoline versions of the 7 Series for one year.
