American startup Rivian published a teaser of its first model – the A1C electric pickup. The basis of the SUV will form the platform of its own design Rivian, adapted for use on roads with any surface. Without recharging such a car will be able to pass up to 725 kilometers.
The spring edition of Engadget revealed some characteristics of a pickup truck. So, it is known that the A1C in size and body shape will be similar to the Honda Ridgeline. The SUV will be able to cross the fords to a depth of 1.1 meters, climb 100 percent slopes (45 degrees) and get a 360-mm ground clearance.
The manufacturer promises handling at the level of the Porsche Cayenne and impressive dynamics: from pickup to 60 miles per hour (97 kilometers per hour) the pickup will accelerate in 2.8 seconds. This will be the top version with 800-strong powerplant. Also A1C will receive autopilot third level of autonomy.
In January 2017, Rivian bought the former Mitsubishi Motors plant in Normal, Illinois. The company planned to invest $ 175 million in its modernization and intended to build a rear-wheel drive sports car with a gasoline engine there.
