The electric version of the new BMW M5 will receive a power of more than 1000 hp.May 31, 2020
With the change of generation, the German sports sedan will turn into an electric car. This was reported by insiders.
The next generation BMW M5 will be electrified. About this writes the magazine Car, citing insider information. According to the publication, the base sports sedan will acquire a hybrid installation from the X8 M with a capacity of 750 hp, and later the BMW M5 will become a full-fledged electric car with three motors, whose return will reach 1020 horsepower. Without recharging, such an electric car can travel about 700 kilometers.
The source also said that the BMW M5 of the seventh generation will be the first model of the M-unit of the Bavarian brand without a traditional ICE. Some experts suggest that the next sedan may receive an 800-volt electric system – a similar one we saw on a Porsche Taycan electric car.
As for the power plant of the electric BMW M5, it will include three electric engines, each of which produces about 340 hp. Such a “hot” M5 will gain the first “hundred” in just 2.9 seconds.
The debut of the novelty will have to wait: the public premiere of the 1000-horsepower electric car will take place no earlier than 2024.
The next-generation hybrid BMW M5 will acquire a 4.4-liter V8 engine and a 200-horsepower electric engine. In total, the hybrid is capable of producing 750 horsepower. Such a sedan will debut a little earlier than the battery – in 2023.
