The debut of the updated BMW 5-Series will be held on May 27May 19, 2020
At the same time as the business sedan, the new BMW 6-Series Gran Turismo will be presented. To the announcement of the debut, the German company released a short video.
The German manufacturer of premium cars BMW is preparing for the premiere of the updated 5-Series sedan, as well as the 6-Series Gran Turismo hatchback. It became known that the event will be held on May 27 this year. In general, the popular 5-Series sedan retained its main features, so the update is needed sooner to warm up interest, as well as demonstrate new technical capabilities. Note the slightly larger air intakes, however they are still smaller than the 7-Series sedans. If you look at the evolution of the BMW 5-Series, then the new car can be positioned as a small return to the roots – it will receive a more “clean” and sporty design.
The base 530i with a 2.0-liter engine is expected to grow to 255 hp. at 400 Nm of torque. But the modification of the 540i seems to receive a completely new engine – it should be the engine from the BMW M340i, which is capable of developing 382 hp. at 500 Nm of torque. The other two power plants are likely to remain unchanged. We are talking about sports modifications with the index M.
A 4.4-liter V8 engine with 523 hp will be available for the BMW M550i. and 750 Nm of torque. A more powerful version of the M5 will still have a 4.4-liter engine with a return of 591 hp, and in the Competition modification it will be boosted to 617 hp.
BMW is also going to present a hatchback 6-Series Gran Turismo, information about which is currently extremely scarce.
