The date of the debut of three autonomous Audi concepts has been announcedJuly 20, 2021
Audi Sphere concepts highlight future self-driving interiors. They will showcase technologies and interiors designed for self-driving production vehicles in the mid-2020s.
The three Audi Sphere concept cars will showcase the automaker’s ideas of what car interiors will look like when autonomous technology becomes everyday. When cars can move safely on their own and drivers can take their minds off the road, the interior will become “a free space for relaxation, socializing or even active communication,” says Audi.
Audi will be showcasing three fully autonomous, all-electric vehicle concepts during its upcoming automotive events. Now the exact dates of their debut have become known.
The first, dubbed Sky Sphere, will debut at Monterey Car Week in California from August 12 to 15. The Grand Sphere will premiere at the Munich Motor Show in September. A third model, the Urban Sphere, will be unveiled in the first half of 2022, according to Audi.
The concept’s ‘spherical’ names are taken from Audi’s concept of a holistic interior compartment that encloses passengers and offers them alternative driving options.
The digital ecosystem of apps and services will expand these capabilities beyond the vehicle, Audi said.
“At the Munich show, you will be able to see what our new models will look like, starting with the interior as the main focus and then creating the exterior around that,” Audi CEO Markus Düsmann said in a recent interview with Automotive News Europe. “You will get an idea of how the interior can evolve with 4th level autonomy.”
