After numerous spy photos, teasers, concepts and preliminary data, there was information about the date of the premiere of the novelty. According to the latest report, the public premiere of the BMW 8 Series will be held on June 15, 2018.
In a bulletin sent out by BMW, containing sales reports, as one of the users of the resource BimmerPost said, the debut 8 Series show will take place in June. The car will be shown on the Le Mans route on Friday before the start of the race, where the GTE version will participate in the 24-hour event the next day.
The invitation refers to the official premiere of the 8 Series: “The 24th hour of Le Mans is the oldest race of endurance sports cars, held since 1923 near a French town called Le Mans, and is also considered one of the most prestigious in the world. For the winners of the “24 Hours of Le Mans”, something special will be prepared – the world premiere of the brand-new BMW 8 Series on Friday night. ”
Of course, after such a number of images that appeared earlier in the web, including official ones, one should not expect intrigues, but, nevertheless, the car has never appeared anywhere without camouflage. It is assumed that the composition of the power scale of the new BMW 8=Series will include six- and eight-cylinder engines, but with the engine V12 is still unclear, since BMW plans to abandon it completely.
Recall, in the lineup of BMW was a large coupe 8 Series, produced from 1989 to 1999. The most powerful version was 850CSi with a S70B56 engine of 5.6 liters capacity of 380 hp. in combination with a six-speed manual transmission.
It is already known that the BMW 8 Series will reach the Russian market – dealers will start accepting orders before the end of this year, but “live” cars are likely to appear already in 2019.
