BMW will begin production of the third generation Z4 roadster at the end of 2018. The assembly of the new product will be arranged at the Magna Steyr plant in Graz (Austria). This is reported by Motor1 with reference to the president of this enterprise Gunther Apfalter. At the same time he did not specify whether the Toyota Supra, which should share the platform with the BMW Z4, will also go off their conveyor.
“We are very pleased that we can further strengthen our common position in the industry with the BMW Group,” said President of Magna Steyr Gunther Apfalter.
The new BMW Z4 roadster has already been spotted by photo spy during test tests. Judging by the pictures, the car as a whole will retain the basic stylistic features of its prototype, shown last year at the Elegance Contest in American Pebble Beach.
According to unofficial data, the top weight of the Z4 will be equipped with an inflatable six-cylinder engine, which produces 340 horsepower. In addition, the roadster will be available with a more powerful modification of the same engine, which develops 390 forces.
The base engine of the revived roadster BMW Z4 will be a two-liter turbo four, issuing 251 hp and 350 Nm of torque. The possibility of the appearance of a full-fledged most powerful and fast M-modification model seems unlikely.
Most likely, BMW will declassify the novelty this summer. Public debut roadster is expected at the motor show in Paris in October this year.
