The cutest Chevy Corvair 95 Rampside pickup is up for auctionFebruary 22, 2021
This compact car, based on the iconic Chevy Corvair, has been nicknamed “Big Orange” for its vibrant exterior color.
Few people know, but the Chevy Corvair had a pickup modification. These machines were called the 95 Rampside. The pickups were distinguished by their compact size and “cartoonish” appearance. It is easy to imagine such a pickup as the hero of the modern cartoon “Cars”.
One Chevy Corvair 95 Rampside rolled off the assembly line in 1962 became an auction lot. The auction is organized by the auction house RM Sotheby’s. The body of the pickup truck is painted a pleasant orange color – hence its “talking” nickname “Big Orange”. The number 95 in the name means that the pickup has a 95-inch wheelbase.
In 1962, only 4,102 Rampside pickups were produced. They all got an air-cooled Corvair six-cylinder rear engine producing 81 hp.
In addition to the interesting orange and white paintwork, the specimen put up for auction receives original wire wheels, a sunroof, a Deluxe exterior trim with a lot of chrome, etc. In the interior of the car we see the same orange color, which is in good harmony with the brown upholstery of the seats.
The body of this pickup, in addition to the ramp on the side, has a number of other features that you cannot immediately guess about. For example, a ramp that folds down on the passenger side. How much this atmospheric lot is estimated, unfortunately, is not reported.
Earlier, AutoTimesNews said that an unusual motorhome is being sold at the auction. This camper is based on the 1996 Ford F-530 truck.
