The company of the ex-head of Lotus brought to the tests a “copy” of De Tomaso PanteraAugust 8, 2018
The company Ares Design, which is managed by the former head of Lotus, Dani Bahar, showed photos of the pre-series prototype of the Project Panther. The machine, built on Lamborghini Huracan units, will be limited to 21 copies. The price of each will be at least 515 thousand euros
Project Panther received a completely original body, made in the style of the classic sports car of the 1970s De Tomaso Pantera. However, the modern interpretation of the cult machine is 10 centimeters longer than the original, and its wheelbase is 12 centimeters long. Nevertheless, specialists of Ares Design managed to retain key elements: a wedge shape and rising lights.
Project Panther will be equipped with a 5.6-liter V10 engine, the output of which is about 660 horsepower and 560 Nm of torque. The box is a seven-speed robotic transmission with two clutches.
The testing of the machine will be completed in the summer. In October, small-scale production will begin. Project Panther will be part of a series of sports cars under the general title of “Legend Reborn”, which will include cars that copy the classic models of the past. Among them will be Project Pony, inspired by Grand Tourer Ferrari, produced in the period from 1972 and 1989 – models 365 GT4 2 + 2, 400 and 412.
