The range of off-road GAC Trumpchi GS4 replenished with a hybrid and a version of Coupe
The range of mid-size crossovers GAC Trumpchi GS4 has expanded due to a rechargeable hybrid and a modification with a coupe. The electrified GS4 PHEV was remarkable for its fuel economy: the claimed NEDC gasoline consumption for an all-terrain vehicle the size of a Kia Sportage reaches 1.3 liters per 100 kilometers.
Externally, the hybrid GAC Trumpchi GS4 is almost identical to the usual GS4 in the SUV: only the blue radiator inserts, nameplates and an additional connector for the charger give out the electrified version. There are more differences in the cabin: a special dashboard skin, decor and an additional control panel for selecting driving modes under the automatic transmission selector.
Under the hood, the GS4 PHEV is the same 1.5 petrol turbo engine, but the power of the unit was reduced by 19 horsepower to 150 horsepower. The efficiency of the electric motor is kept secret, and the total peak performance of the power plant exceeds 200 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque.
Cross-coupe GAC Trumpchi GS4 received an original body with a fashionable sporty silhouette and a sloping roof. All external panels, optics and even the cross-section of the grille have changed. The interior is fully unified with the “traditional” crossover: the interior is decorated with two 12.3-inch displays, physical keys – a minimum. The size of the GS4 Coupe is comparable to the Renault Arkana: from bumper to bumper a little more than 4.5 meters.
Technically, the Trumpchi GS4 in the cross-coupe version is identical to the base all-terrain vehicle: under the hood, a 169-horsepower turbo engine with a volume of 1.5 liters, the drive – to the front wheels, the gearbox – a six-speed manual or automatic transmission Aisin with the same number of gears. In the future, GAC Motor does not exclude the possibility of releasing a hybrid version in the back of a coupe.
In the China, the GS4 Coupe and GS4 PHEV will go on sale in the first quarter of 2020. The regular GS4 is already available for order: prices range from 89,800 yuan to 152,000 yuan.
