Chinese journalists became aware of additional data on the BMW electric car
In the open base of the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Trade, the characteristics of the BMW iX3 electric crossover were unveiled. Before the premiere, it was possible to find out the overall dimensions, the curb weight of the novelty, the dimension of the wheels, as well as the exterior design options. They previously shared technical data at BMW, but there has not yet been a premiere.
Chinese certification authorities have confirmed that the BMW iX3 will be not much different from the X3 with traditional ICEs: the electric and “conventional” crossover has an identical wheelbase of 2864 millimeters and the same width of 1891 millimeters. Due to a different aerodynamic body kit, the iX3 is 38 millimeters longer than the X3, and 7 millimeters higher.
Compared with the charged hybrid BMW X3 xDrive30e, the curb weight has increased by 140 kilograms and reached 2205 kilograms. Another difference is that 19-inch 245/50 R19 wheels are already standard, and 20-inch 245/45 R20 wheels are optional. Judging by the images from the catalog, iX3 will be decorated with the original more streamlined disks of two varieties.
Depending on the configuration, the BMW iX3 will offer several decor options: a cover that imitates the radiator grill, bumpers, sills and discs can be decorated with blue inserts, the window trim may differ, as well as the design of the branded “nostrils”.
The interior will almost completely repeat the traditional X3: probably only the steering wheel and dashboard graphics will change; special accents may appear in the interior decoration.
The manufacturer has already called indicative technical specifications and the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Trade has confirmed the data. The BMW iX3 will be equipped with a 286-horsepower (400 Nm) electric motor in the rear axle drive and a 74 kilowatt-hour traction battery. Estimated power reserve on a single charge – 440 kilometers on the WLTP cycle.
The iX3 electric crossovers for all markets will be assembled at the BMW Brilliance joint venture in the Middle Kingdom, so China is likely to be the first country to offer a new product. However, while BMW has not held the official premiere of the model. Probably the final iX3 will be revealed within a few weeks.
