The BMW X3 M will have a new 475-horsepower engineDecember 27, 2017
The Bavarian manufacturer plans to replace the S55 engine with the upgraded B58 in the top versions of the 3 Series and 4 Series.
The current BMW M3 and M4 are equipped with a six-cylinder S55 engine with a capacity of 3.0 liters, but in the next-generation models from next year, the BMW M unit is going to install an S58 engine with a payback of 470-475 hp. This engine debuts on the crossovers X3 M and X4 M, and in a few years will reach the new M3 and M4.
By the way, the M-version in the BMW X3 family will appear for the first time and with it the Bavarian manufacturer is slightly delayed, since in the model line of the main competitors there are already similar crossovers – Audi has SQ5, and Mercedes-AMG has GLC 63.
By the way, there are rumors that the new BMW M3 G80 will be the first hybrid model of BMW M, having received a 48-volt electrical system with an auxiliary electric motor generator.
One of the last “charged” novelties of BMW was the new generation M5 sedan, the production of which started at the beginning of this month.
