The best McLaren F1 put up for saleJune 18, 2018
Auction house RM Sotheby’s has launched a division that will deal with closed sales of rare cars for selected customers. One of the first machines, which it plans to implement, will be a unique copy of the supercar McLaren F1 – the penultimate coupe, descended from the assembly line.
This McLaren F1 collected 63rd in the account and was originally painted in green, and the interior was finished with cream and green skin. The car was delivered to the owner in September 1998, which transferred it to the McLaren Special Operations division, which develops exclusive cars. At the same time, the customer wished to have “the best and most desired F1 on the planet” prepared for him.
In the division MSO replaced the base 6.1-liter atmospheric V12, issuing 636 horsepower, to the unit from the racing modification GTR, which develops 690 forces. Only two civilian McLaren F1 in history were equipped with such a power plant, and this one is one of them.
In addition, the supercar was repainted in orange and equipped with a modernized cooling system, a more malicious release, additional aerodynamic body elements that increase the downforce, other headlights and 18-inch alloy wheels.
The car was altered by the interior, added navigation, a radio station, and also installed a steering wheel, an instrument panel and a handbrake from the racing version of the GTR.
The cost of a supercar is not called. Three years ago this copy of McLaren F1 went under the hammer for 13.7 million dollars.
