The arrested head of Audi finally firedOctober 3, 2018
Rupert Stadler will take care of his defense in the diesel gate case
The supervisory board of Volkswagen and Audi decided to dismiss the member of the board of companies Rupert Stadler, arrested in the case of “diesel gate”. The former top manager was suspended from business as early as June, but now he wants to concentrate fully on his defense.
The official report of the German manufacturer states that Stadler is under investigation in the case of fraud and concealment of evidence in the framework of “dieselgate”. He can no longer perform his direct duties as a member of the board of Volkswagen AG and Audi AG, in connection with which he himself offered to dismiss him from his posts.
Handelsblatt newspaper sources in Volkswagen report that Stadler will be paid seven million euros in compensation. But the conditions are such that he should not be convicted of any crime in Germany. In addition, the concern will pay the former top manager 1.5 million euros if he does not go to work with competitors before the end of December 2019.
Previously, Acting Stadler was appointed Abraham Shhot, who had previously worked at Audi for just nine months – he headed the sales and marketing department.
The head of Audi was arrested on June 18 at his home. The prosecutor’s office believes that Stadler was aware of the use of fraudulent software on cars, which underestimates the data on harmful emissions when checking cars on stands.
