The Americans created a motor of the same power as the Bugatti Veyron Super SportJuly 2, 2020
Katech Performance introduced an eight-cylinder unit based on the V8 LT5 engine – the same is used in the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 C7.
The return of the modified unit reaches 1159 horsepower. At Bugatti Veyron Super Sport, the power of the W16 engine with four turbines is 1200 hp.
The LT5 engine, which many tuning studios use as a base for improvements and which is installed on the Corvette ZR1 in the top-end factory version, has a 6.2-liter displacement and a record output of 766 hp for the Corvette road. However, Katech found the latter to be insufficient.
The working volume was increased to 6.4 liters, and the compression ratio was increased from 10.1: 1 to 10.3: 1. The cylinder heads are modified – porting is done (changing the diameter and shape of the inlet and outlet channels), other valves and reinforced pistons are installed.
Motor customers can choose one of two mechanical superchargers – either Katech’s own design, or a Magnuson supercharger with the TBVS 2650 index.
With any of the compressors, the engine will produce 1,159 hp. and 1441 Nm of torque. The new engine is called Track Attack, and its parameters are almost the same as those of the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport (1200 hp and 1500 Nm).
