The all-electric SUV Subaru reveal by 2021August 12, 2016
Japanese brand Subaru is preparing to develop all-electric SUV, the premiere of which could happen in 2021.
Mid-size crossover that works on electrical power plant to be built at the Outback or Forester models of the new generation. The model will be developed on the new Subaru Global Platfom modular platform (SGP), which Subaru has shown this year. At the same time, the crossover will get a permanent all-wheel drive system.
SGP modular platform made its debut on hatchback and sedan Impreza new generation. The chassis on which to build all future Subaru models, will increase the rigidity of the machine design is 70 percent and 50 percent to reduce body roll. On the basis of SGP will be to develop vehicles of different sizes and use different types of engines: a standard internal combustion engine, also hybrid and all-electric.
The new SUV will perform in the style of a concept car Viziv. The prototype, which debuted in October 2015 at the Tokyo Motor Show, was designed to demonstrate a new design direction of the Japanese brand.
Creation of an electric or hybrid crossover looks logical, since SGP platform has been created with regard to the installation of the hybrid power plant.
The Subaru does not confirm information about working of the electric crossover. However, company spokesman Masato Saito told, that if such a model will be created, it will become the main market of North America for her.
