The 54-year-old family kept the first Ford Mustang. Now it costs 100 times more expensiveAugust 16, 2018
In the US, the first sold serial Ford Mustang was found – it is owned by Gale Wise. The car was purchased on April 15, 1964 (that is, two days before its world premiere at the World Exhibition in New York) for $ 3,447 and 50 cents. Now he is estimated by the insurance company Hagerty at 350-450 thousand dollars. Detroit Free Press writes about this.
Fifty four years ago, Clidis and Helen Brown came to the Ford dealership with their daughter Gail to pick and give her a car. There were no suitable cars in the showroom, but the seller suggested that they go to the warehouse and look at the blue cabriolet that has just arrived to them. Thus, Gail became the first owner of the serial Mustang, but for a long time did not know about it.
Two years after the purchase of the car, Gail married Tom Wise, and the Mustang remained in their family. It was used for 15 years, traveling 68 thousand miles (almost 110 thousand kilometers), but in 1979 from a technical malfunction for a long time was forgotten in the garage.
Initially, they wanted to give the car to scrap metal, but after retiring Tom Wise decided to restore the car and started looking for spare parts on the web. Soon he found out that they own a unique Ford Mustang, which even retained checks and instructions for operation.
Recently, Ford celebrated the release of the 10 millionth Mustang. They became a white convertible with a five-liter eight cylinder.
