This is not just an update. In fact, EVO is the new generation of youngest supercar.
The Italians almost completely shook up the technical stuffing of the car, but in the world of supercars, where appearance is as important as tenths of a second in acceleration to 100 km / h, the arguments in favor of the new generation are no longer so convincing. Externally, EVO differs from the pre-reform Huracan only in terms of plumage, and even those appeared here solely due to technical necessity. For example, a new rear diffuser coupled with a duck tail on the edge of the hood allows you to increase downforce on the rear axle by almost six times.
And this is very useful, because the Huracan EVO motor is also not the same as before. This is still the V10, but borrowed from the insane Huracan Performante. With a shortened intake and exhaust tracts and a reconfigured control unit – it is 30 forces more powerful than the previous one and produces a maximum of 640 horsepower.
But this is far from the most important figure that you need to know about the new engine. 6 minutes 52.01 seconds – this is how much it took Huracan Performante to drive the famous Nordschleife. Ahead is only the older brother of the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ (6: 44.97), as well as a couple of the Chinese electric car NextEV Nio EP9 (6: 45.90) and the prototype Radical SR8LM (6: 48.00), which are even conditionally difficult to consider as serial road cars.
And if you keep in mind the fact that in addition to the new aerodynamic plumage Huracan EVO received a fully-controlled chassis with swiveling rear wheels, it’s even hard to imagine what this beast is capable of in extreme modes. But we seem to have a chance not only to dream up, but even to try to find this very limit.
We have two arrivals in six circles to imbue with the harsh temper of Huracan EVO. After the first warm-up, the instructor on the car ahead of him suggests immediately transferring the machine settings from the Strada civilian mode to the track Corsa, bypassing the intermediate Sport. Given the tight test time, the proposal seems constructive.
Two clicks on the button on the lower chord of the steering wheel – and that’s it, now you are almost one on one with 640 horsepower. The box is in manual mode, and switching is carried out only by huge paddle shifters, and stabilization is as relaxed as possible.
Even at the slightest touch of the gas pedal, the engine explodes and begins to spin instantly. And he has where: V10 is so resourceful that the red zone begins after 8500. A separate song is the sound of the exhaust. With the shutter in the exhaust tract open, the motor behind him is like an angry Zeus on Olympus. Especially juicy exhaust shoots off when switching.
However, you can feel them here, even if you insert ear plugs. Each change of transmission is like a blow with a sledgehammer in the back (and do not ask how I know about these sensations). Well, the box can handle this in less than 60 milliseconds!
The first fast circle flies in one breath. Then we cool the brakes and go to the second. It’s getting more fun because the instructor is picking up pace. Huracan prescribes turns so easily and accurately, as if it were a continuation of you. The steering wheel is not overloaded, but at the same time so accurate and transparent, as if you feel the curbs with your fingertips. Damn it, even my little sister can handle this hurricane.
We go to the longest straight in the last sector of the MRW. “Gas to the floor!” The instructor shouts into the radio. Impressed into a chair, and my face blurred in a smile, but not for long. The speed is just approaching 200 km / h, and we are already starting to slow down – almost 350 m to a sharp left turn. No, after all, going to Huracan EVO for an instructor is just one torment.
On the other hand, it is foolish to assume that he does not trust the Huracan EVO brake system. This guy from Lamborghini in front of me knows very well that the car will slow down easily even if we start to brake 150 or even 100 meters before the turn. It is rather a matter of trust in me: we see the instructor for the first time. If I were in his place, I would hardly have handed him an expensive car with the words: “Do what you want.”
