Lucid Motors has finally announced the full-fledged premiere date for its electric Air sedan. The announcement of the main competitor of Tesla (primarily Tesla Model S) will be held on September 9. The electric car will have several options. The base assumes the presence of one engine with a capacity of about 400 hp. on the rear axle and the 75 kWh traction battery. The autonomy of this option will be about 400 km, and the cost is about 53 thousand dollars. The power reserve of the top version will be 643 km according to the EPA cycle, the power of all power plants will exceed 1000 hp, and the maximum speed will reach 378 km / h. Due to the outstanding technical parameters and rich finish, the cost of Lucid Air in the initial special version of the Dream Edition will go above $ 100 thousand.
On Wednesday, Lucid Motors announced that on September 9, the company would not only demonstrate the final design of the car’s interior and exterior, but would also publish all its specifications, configurations and prices. While the company is completing the construction of a factory in Casa Grande (USA), which will produce Air. The main components of the conveyor and equipment for painting lines will be installed before the completion of construction, that is, until the end of the year. After that, Lucid will begin production of prototypes: all cars that go off the assembly line in 2020 will not be sold. The production version of Air starts at the beginning of 2021. Lucid Motors currently employs more than 1,000 people, but the company plans to increase the number of jobs ahead of Air’s production debut. Over the past three months, more than 160 new employees have been hired, and by the end of the year the number of employees will increase by another 700 people.
Tesla, by the way, will soon begin construction of the next plant – Cybertruck Gigafactory, which will produce the Cybertruck armored truck (hence the name of the factory) and Tesla Model Y. However, Tesla plans to cope with the construction faster – almost in three months.
