Tesla’s China plant to reach 550,000 units in 2021November 12, 2020
110 thousand made electric vehicles will be exported
The Chinese newspaper 36kr reports, citing its own sources, that by the end of 2021 Tesla’s Shanghai plant will reach a production capacity of 550 thousand cars per year. That is, he will be able to do so much already in 2022. As of the end of September, the enterprise was capable of producing 250,000 electric vehicles annually.
The company does not officially comment on these figures. Initially, when the enterprise was just about to be built, it was about launching the first line at the end of 2019 (in fact, full-scale production started in early 2020), the second line at the end of 2020 and the third line by the end of 2021. After that, the capacity of the enterprise was supposed to be 500 thousand vehicles per year.
The publication claims that the company will be able to produce 300 thousand Model 3 sedans and 250 thousand Model Y crossovers annually. At the same time, next year, 100 thousand sedans and 10 thousand crossovers of Chinese production are planned to be exported.
At the same time, Tesla faced problems during the construction of its other plant, this time in Berlin, writes Automobilwoche. The company cannot obtain permits for additional felling of trees and for the construction of a paint shop.
Reportedly, Elon Musk has already personally visited Germany to meet with senior officials. He also conducted personal interviews with applicants for managerial positions at the plant. The Berlin plant is due to start operating in July 2021.
