Tesla will start official sales of cars in Israel in 2021November 26, 2020
The S, X and 3 models will be the first to enter the market. Model Y has yet to be certified
Official sales of Tesla electric vehicles in Israel will start in the second half of 2021. The local edition of Globes writes about this with reference to its own sources in the automotive market.
It was originally planned that the company will come to the country in early 2020. However, at first, the certification of cars and obtaining a license for their import was delayed, and then the coronavirus occurred.
However, Tesla has managed to pass Israeli standards for the Model S, X and Model 3 sedan. The Model Y crossover has yet to be certified, so deliveries will begin later. It is expected to be brought to Israel for testing in early 2021.
Tesla has already begun recruiting personnel and searching for auto services in major cities in the country that could be turned into branded centers for servicing and repairing electric vehicles. In addition, negotiations are currently underway on a partnership in the development of charging infrastructure.
Recall that Israel is among the countries where a draft of a complete ban on the sale of new gasoline and diesel vehicles is being discussed. It is planned to do this already in 2030.
