The American manufacturer Tesla may significantly increase the battery life in the near future – from the current 1.6 thousand charge cycles to 6 thousand. Tesla Battery Guru and Halifax physics professor Jeff Dan told reporters that the new battery will last a million miles (1.6 million kilometers).

According to Forbes, today in the world there is no electric car with a battery, the resource of which reaches a million miles. Back in April, the head of Tesla, Elon Musk, said that the company was working on the creation of such a “survivable” unit. He explained that the emergence and introduction of such a battery can make Robotaxi car sharing profitable.

According to Mask, Tesla models were created with an eye on mileage of a million kilometers – this is confirmed by internal tests of the company. However, the resource declared by the automaker, for example, at Model S is between 300 and 500 thousand miles (approximately 500-800 thousand kilometers).

In July of this year, it became known that the German Hansjorg Gemmingen broke the record for total mileage among all Tesla electric vehicles sold. Gemmingen-Hornberg traveled 620,000 kilometers on his Tesla Roadster, and over 900,000 kilometers on the Model S P85. However, during the operation, the battery was changed several times for it – for 312.5 and 520.5 thousand kilometers.
