Tesla travels on rails in a tunnel of a new transportation systemJune 15, 2018
The Boring Company, supervised by Elon Musk, began construction of high-speed tunnels near Chicago
The American start-up The Boring Company has posted a video on its Twitter that shows how the Tesla Model X crossover moves on rails in an underground tunnel. The company, supervised by the head of Tesla, Elon Musk, creates a fundamentally new transportation system.
The idea of The Boring Company is to build high-speed tunnels under big cities, which are created using the Godot drill machine. According to the concept of developers, on the surface of the car rises on a special platform with an electric drive, which falls under the ground and moves to a tunnel with a width of 3.6 meters. There the car with the help of a special device is attached to a monorail, through which it can travel at speeds up to 200 km per hour.
Earlier it became known that the representatives of The Boring Company had agreed with the authorities of Chicago on the construction of a new transportation system that would connect the business center of the city with O’Hare International Airport.
Ilon Mask believes that using the new system will significantly relieve ground roads and reduce the level of traffic congestion in cities. In the future, the network of tunnels is supposed to be combined with the vacuum system of hyper-high-speed passenger trains Hyperloop, which, theoretically, can travel at speeds up to 1200 km per hour.
