Tesla stations can charge other electric vehiclesSeptember 13, 2020
The Supercharger V3 Tesla charging station software in Europe contains a flaw, thanks to which you can recharge almost any electric car from third-party car manufacturers for free.
Problems are encountered on Superchargers with CCS connectors. This is the kind of connection that electric cars have in Europe. Note that to start recharging a car of an American brand, they use a special software option “welcome”, which activates the process with a link to the account of the car owner. However, it turns out that a non-registered user can also use the free charge.
A flaw in the system of the American brand, according to statements, currently allows charging such electric cars (and, for sure, other models not yet tested), such as the Volkswagen e-Golf and ID.3, BMW i3, Opel Ampera-e (Chevy Bolt EV), Hyundai Kona Electric and IONIQ Electric, as well as Renault Zoe and Porsche Taycan.
Apparently, this became possible precisely because of the software flaw, which will be eliminated in the near future. However, it is possible that in this way Tesla wants to draw the attention of carmakers to the topic of sharing their own network of charging stations.
In addition, it was recently noted that the Tesla Roadster launched into orbit was called space debris. It should be emphasized that the American brand electric sports car played the role of a payload mockup for the Falcon Heavy rocket.
