Tesla Semi caught on load tests

Tesla electric truck was seen on the road with a semi-trailer loaded with concrete blocks

Although the American company Tesla has not yet reported even the approximate load capacity of its electric tractor, called Semi, this video, shot somewhere in the US, already allows us to make some assumptions.

Caught on the California highway, the Tesla Semi electric truck is clearly undergoing load tests: a tractor carries nine concrete blocks weighing about 1,800 kilograms each on a semi-trailer. Thus, their total weight is more than 16 tons. Together with a truck weighing about 7,000 kilograms, more than half of the total mass of a road train of 36 tons is already produced.

But what is the carrying capacity of the Tesla Semi? This will depend on the version of the truck (Standard with a range of 480 kilometers or a Long Range with 800 km), since a more long-range tractor will need more batteries. Assuming that the own weight of Semi will be about 6800-9000 kilograms, the payload should be about 20-23 tons. It is known that Semi acceleration to 96 km / h will be 20 seconds.
