The American company supplied the private racing team with the first racing Model S for the Electric GT monocube, the first season of which will start at the end of 2018
Tesla Motors Company delivered the first race-ready electric car to an honest racing team, which will participate in the Electric GT monocube. The car, prepared for the SPV Racing team, was presented in Barcelona.
The organizers of the Electric GT series postponed the start of the competitions several times, which should be held again in 2017. This time, the final decision is reached – the first season of electric car racing Tesla will start at the end of this year.
In the championship it was decided to use light modifications of the top version of the Tesla Model S – P100D with the mode “Ludicrous +”. Such cars, whose weight, thanks to the use of composite materials and a “stripped-down” interior, have been reduced by almost 500 kg, can accelerate from place to 100 km / h in 2.1 seconds.
The civil version of the Tesla Model S in the P100D version is equipped with a 224-horsepower electric unit on the front axle and a 476-strong electric unit on the rear. The electric car can accelerate from place to 96 km / h in 2.3 seconds, and its maximum speed is limited to 250 km per hour.
