Tesla prepared for off-road Model YNovember 6, 2020
The Tesla Model Y crossover is off-road ready with a custom lift kit or winter tire set direct from the manufacturer.
Tesla cars are well-known for their excellent electric range and stunning on-track performance, but few have ventured off the beaten path. With the release of the Model Y, Tesla has taken a few steps in the right direction, but most of these cars will never see the dirt road. Until now.
Unplugged Performance, an electric car tuner, announced their newly developed off-road package for the Model Y, and it came in handy: Tesla has announced its own set of tires and wheels as part of the $ 3,500 winter package for the Model Y, which, it is said to “guarantee a high level of traction, stability and braking performance in temperatures below 7 degrees Celsius.” The package includes 19-inch Gemini rims with Pirelli Winter Sottozero tires and 4 tire pressure sensors.
Unplugged Performance, based in Hawthorne, Calif., Specializes in performance-enhancing products for all Tesla models with a focus on ride performance, but the newly released mud and snow suspension kit designed specifically for the Tesla Model Y is for those looking to ride off-road.
The kit consists of a dedicated coilover suspension system that provides over 10cm of lift. The kit has been designed to maintain the Model Y’s excellent ride quality while increasing the vehicle’s ground clearance for serious off-roading. The kit costs $ 2495, and Unplugged Performance guarantees its quality.
