Tesla Model 3 entered the top three best-selling models in EuropeJanuary 29, 2020
We are all used to the fact that the Volkswagen Golf hatchback has been the bestseller of the European market for many years. However, the legend has a competitor, and environmentally friendly.
According to a JATO Dynamics study, in December Volkswagen Golf and Renault Clio became Europe’s best-selling models, with a circulation of 30,652 and 27,516, respectively. But the farthest surprise was waiting for everyone – the inhabitants of the continent began to listen to Greta Tunberg.
The Tesla Model 3 closes the top three sales leaders in December 2019. During the month, the car sold over 22 041 units, while in November its sales amounted to almost 8 thousand cars.
Note that at present, Tesla electric cars, whose sales started in Europe in 2019, are imported from the United States. Only recently, Elon Musk chose the site for the construction of the European brand factory. Currently, workers with metal detectors have begun to inspect the territory, the size of which is about 200 football fields, in search of old wartime ammunition. This is the first stage of preparation of the site, where it is planned to produce up to 500 thousand cars a year. The first electric cars will begin to roll off the assembly line in June 2021.
According to JATO representatives, in addition to increasing the tax on cars, the rearrangement in the list of sales leaders was largely due to other “artificial” conditions. So, many automakers sought to register as many models as possible with a higher level of pollution before January 1. This growth in sales may be due to self-registration.
