Tesla Model 3 entered the list of the safest cars according to IIHSSeptember 20, 2019
A series of crash tests for this model was organized by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety in the USA (IIHS). According to the results of all tests, the electric car was awarded the highest safety rating “Top safety pick”.
Experts from the American IIHS announced the latest crash test results, according to which the Tesla Model 3 electric car for the first time received the highest score in all categories of tests. This “green” model became the second electric car in history to become a leader in the Top Safety Pick + rating. Prior to that, the Audi e-tron electric crossover undividedly held this honorary title. At the same time, it was not without drawbacks.
So, according to the IIHS report, during the most difficult crash test simulating a frontal collision, experts identified a “moderate risk of injury” to the driver’s left leg. Tesla Model 3 passed all other tests with flying colors. But the more expensive electric car from the Tesla model line – Model S – showed less impressive results. The third model of American digging – the full-size Model X electric crossover – has not yet fallen into the hands of IIHS experts.
In general, this year’s Top Safety Pick + awards were received by two KIA models – Soul and Stinger, Subaru Crosstrek (XV), Toyota Camry, BMW 3 Series and X5, Genesis G70, Mazda CX-5, Hyundai Santa Fe, as well as Ram pickup 1500 Crew Cab.
