Electric car fought in the drag with three very fast cars
The presenter of Top Gear, Chris Harris, put the most powerful Tesla Model 3 against the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifolgio, BMW M3 and Mercedes-AMG C 63 S into the drag race, but decided not to race for a quarter of a mile, but half a mile (almost 805 meters).
Earlier, the head of Tesla, Elon Musk, said that Tesla Model 3 with the Performance package will beat any car in its class on the track. This statement and decided to check in Top Gear, comparing the electric car with the most powerful gasoline models in the segment.
The electric car in the Performance version is two motors with a total power of 456 forces (639 Nm), a lowered suspension, more powerful brakes, 20-inch wheels and a special track mode of the control electronics. Acceleration time to 96 kilometers per hour (60 miles per hour) of such a car – 3.2 seconds.
For comparison, the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifolgio is offered with a 510-horsepower 2.9 V6 engine, a BMW M3 equipped with a three-liter “six” with a power of 431 power, and a Mercedes-AMG C 63 S with a 510-horsepower figure of four liters. In the video Tesla at first pulled ahead, but in the end still could not win the race.
In late January, the top version of the Model 3 sedan has already set a speed record – it was compared to a straight line with a Doodge Viper SRT10 supercar, which reaches 500 horsepower. The electric car overcame a quarter mile (402 meters) in 12.7 seconds, and it developed a speed of 96 kilometers per hour in 3.9 seconds.
