Tesla may reduce the price of the most popular electric carDecember 18, 2019
Tesla plans to reduce the price of its most popular electric car, the Model 3 sedan, by 20%. A discount on the purchase of an electric car will not appear until 2020.
It is reported by Bloomberg with reference to informed sources. According to the publication, the price reduction will concern those cars that were created at the Gigafactory 3 factory in Shanghai, China.
Sources of Bloomberg claim that the use of components of local production in China has allowed a significant reduction in the cost of Model 3. This will allow you to sell electric cars cheaper than the current price.
Now the Tesla sedan assembled in China costs about 355 thousand yuan (about $ 51 thousand), however, subsequently its value may fall to 300 thousand yuan (about $ 43 thousand). In the future, cheaper electric cars can hit the market as early as 2020, the publication notes.
It is worth recalling that the Gigafactory 3 plant in Shanghai was the first Tesla plant outside the United States. By the end of 2019, the management plans to bring it to a capacity of 1000 electric vehicles per week. This will accelerate the pace of production of Model 3, which is now the company’s most popular and affordable electric car.
