At the last Tesla Battery Day 2020 event, in addition to a new concept of batteries for electric vehicles and an affordable branded car model, the company showed a three-engine version of its flagship Model S sedan. According to the vendor, the novelty received record acceleration rates for the branded series to 100 kph and maximum speed. To confirm this in practice, the manufacturer tested the new electric car on the race track.
According to the head of Tesla Elon Musk, the maximum speed of the Model S Plaid is 321 km / h, and the cruising range on a single battery charge is up to 836 kilometers. To confirm the speed characteristics of its brainchild, the company has published a video showing the new lap of the new race at the WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca in Northern California. The total time of the novelty was 90 seconds and made it one of the fastest production cars in the world.
On the run, the electric sedan was faster than the McLaren P1 supercar and was just three seconds behind the new McLaren Senna. At the same time, the Tesla sedan is much cheaper than these models, the retail price of which in dollars is represented by seven-digit figures. By comparison, the base Model S Plaid costs $ 134,490.
