Tesla has become a leader in the world among electric vehicle manufacturersDecember 7, 2019
Tesla has become the world’s largest automaker of electric models based on sales volumes, ahead of the Chinese company BYD, even taking into account sales of hybrid cars.
In recent years, the American company has managed to significantly increase the production of electric cars by launching three models – Model S, Model X and Model 3.
There has always been an invisible rivalry between the two automakers. After it became known about the investments of the American billionaire Warren Buffet (Warren Buffet) in the development of BYD, Elon Musk decided to find out what he thinks about the electric cars of the Chinese company, and the Tesla CEO only laughed in response.
Kevin Rook, an expert on the data, presented the Tesla and BYD cumulative sales chart over the past few years. It should be noted that the total sales volume of BYD includes sales of cars powered by an electric battery and a rechargeable hybrid motor (PHEV), while Tesla produces only electric cars.
According to Ruka, as of October 2019, Tesla sold 807 954 models in the market, while BYD produced 787 150 cars.
The expert emphasized that over the past five years, BYD’s sales of hybrids have been declining amid growing sales of electric vehicles. The Chinese company also produces electric trucks and buses and produces batteries for its electric vehicles.
