Tesla compares the cost of an electric car and a regular car with an internal combustion engineAugust 21, 2021
An American electric car company Tesla Motors conducted a study comparing the cost of ownership of a classic car and a green one over 5 years.
The popularity of the electrified car has begun to grow, but many car owners believe that such cars are very expensive. Tesla decided to find out if this is so. In its analysis, Tesla decided to compare the operating costs of the Tesla Model 3 Standard Range Plus, Toyota Camry and BMW 3 Series. It is worth clarifying that not only the cost of the car and its maintenance were taken into account, but also insurance and fuel prices.
So, the most profitable from the point of view of economy was the Toyota Camry, the costs of which for five years were equal to 37 rubles per 1.6 km. The second position is taken by the Tesla Model 3 electric car with a result of 41 rubles, and the initial price tag of the car is quite high, but the cost of fuel consumption and maintenance are minimal.
In addition, the company’s specialists noticed that after a mileage of 97 thousand km, the costs for both models become almost the same, in the future the electric car will become even more profitable. The BMW 3 Series closes the list, costing almost 60 rubles per 1.6 km.
