Tesla announced a “musical” updateAugust 20, 2020
Electric cars can sometimes just fly by unnoticed, and this is unsafe. Tesla decided that the company’s electric vehicles could make noise to alert others. According to Elon Musk, new, very special sounds will soon appear in his electric cars.
The fact that electric cars are practically silent is of course great for the environment, but it can also be dangerous, for example, for pedestrians. You may get the impression that there are no cars around, and suddenly you may find yourself in front of a car. Increased attention saves, of course, but more and more EVs are starting to make sound through external speakers to announce their presence.
This also applies to Tesla models, which, for example, can make an astonishing sound to make themselves hear. It’s a wonderful and slightly annoying sound to be honest, but it really works.
With some humor, Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced on Twitter that an update will be available that will allow Tesla’s music to be played through a pedestrian warning system. Musk says it is “snake jazz” and “Polynesian elevator music.” The first one is known from the comedy series “Rick and Morty” and is very annoying to the ear, but the “elevator” melody seems to be something that is impossible to listen to constantly.
