Chinese authorities have added Tesla to the government’s list of approved automakers. This means that the Americans have received approval for the assembly of their electric cars in this country, reports Reuters. According to him, the corresponding certificate has already been issued by Tesla. Now the company can begin production of its cars in China at any time.

The construction of its plant in southern China, the American company Tesla began in January this year. The company will be called Gigafactory. This is Tesla’s first non-US plant.

Initially, Tesla Model 3 sedans and new Tesla Model Y crossovers will begin to roll off the assembly line. It is expected that the assembly of the first electric cars will begin at the end of this year. Thanks to the plant, the American company will be able to sell its products in China without paying a tariff of 25%.

For several years now, the Chinese authorities have been contributing in every way to the development of the domestic electric car market due to the very difficult environmental situation in large cities. In addition, the government supports local producers so that they can compete with foreign companies.

Tesla Motors, focused on the production of electric vehicles, was founded in 2003. Since 2008, it has been supplying the Tesla Roadster sports car to the market. In 2012, the company introduced the Model S sedan. Manufacturer headquarters are located in Palo Alto, California. The company employs more than two thousand people.
