Tesla again postponed launch of Semi unmanned electric truckMay 1, 2020
Tesla Corporation confirmed on Thursday, April 30, that the release of the Semi model is postponed to a later date.
At first, it was expected that electric trucks would be assembled last year, after which production was moved to this year. According to new information, the model will be released only in 2021. As a result, Tesla Semi from the schedule for 2 years.
The debut of the Semi model took place in 2017. The truck, which can transport 20-23 tons, depending on the version, has an autopilot and an electric motor that accelerates to 97 km / h in 20 seconds. The truck will be available in two variations: Standard with autonomy of 480 km or Long Range – such a truck will travel on a single charge of 800 km.
Despite the repeatedly postponed launch dates, the American company has already announced the start of accepting orders for the new model. To reserve a place in the queue for the electric truck, it is enough to make an advance payment of $ 150,000
It should be emphasized that Tesla has already begun to test Semi. A truck was repeatedly noticed during a test in the United States – for example, in the summer of 2019, the tractor was photographed on a highway in California with a semi-trailer loaded with 9 concrete blocks weighing about 1.8 thousand kg each.
