Tesla admitted: yes, our bumpers fall off, and blow off roofsOctober 20, 2020
The company promised to fix defective cars, but only after a breakdown
Tesla is renowned for its ability to launch new models into production in record time. Unfortunately, sometimes this negatively affects the quality of the cars.
Thus, in recent months, there have been two egregious incidents. First, the owner of the Model 3, when driving through a not deepest puddle, unexpectedly tore off his rear bumper. An even worse story happened to the buyer of the Model Y crossover from California. On the way home from the dealership, his new electric car blew off the glass panoramic roof. In the salon, where he immediately returned, he was told that the factory must have simply forgotten to glue the glass.
Now in social networks, the owners of Tesla Model Y write that the company invites them to service centers to check the attachment of the glass roof to the body. At the same time, Tesla did not officially announce the revocable company and they do not make any mandatory repairs to the panoramic top at the service, confining themselves to checking.
As for the case with the bumper torn off by a puddle, Tesla sent an official response to Electrek.co, in which it admitted the fact of insufficient fastening of the part on sedans of early assembly batches. The statement says that the bumper mount has been changed as of May 21, 2019.
At the same time, there will be no recall of already sold cars. But the company confirmed that if the bumper breaks off, the malfunction will be repaired under warranty.
