Tesla accelerated underground to almost 200 kilometers per hourJune 25, 2019
Electric Tesla Model 3 tested in a tunnel near Los Angeles
Tesla board member Steve Jurvetson published a video in which the Model 3 electric car drives through an underground tunnel and accelerates to 116 miles per hour (186.5 kilometers per hour).
We are talking about the tunnel, which was built by the company Ilona Mask The Boring Company between the SpaceX office and the suburbs of Los Angeles. At a mile-long section (1.6 kilometers) they test the Loop transport system – with its help, the entrepreneur wants to transport cars on special electric carts at speeds of up to 250 kilometers per hour.
The Tesla Model 3 electric car decided to check without a platform – the car driven by the driver drove into the tunnel and managed to accelerate to 186 kilometers per hour over a segment of just over one and a half kilometers. In past trials, where the car was driven by a man, the maximum speed did not exceed 75 kilometers per hour.
The Boring Company was created for laying underground tunnels, through which, according to Musk’s idea, special electric carts with cars mounted on a monorail can move autonomously. Cars and people in the tunnels will lower special elevators.
