The company has officially confirmed that it intends to release fully electric versions of the Porsche Boxster and Cayman. Nevertheless, their characteristics are still kept secret, but preliminary information has appeared on the Web.
A couple of months ago, Porsche Deputy Chairman Lutz Meschke confirmed that the fully electric versions of the Porsche Boxster and Cayman would certainly be there. There is no official debut date yet, but we expect their debut by 2023.
According to preliminary information, both cars will receive a twin-engine layout with a total electric power of about 400 horsepower. Apparently, they will take a step between the GTS and Spyder / GT4 in comparison in power. As a basis, a modified platform with an aluminum monocoque will be used.
In addition, experts suggest an all-wheel drive and rear-wheel drive version on the market right away. The latter should become more accessible due to the use of a single electric motor. No information on the capacity of the electric battery yet. Later, the same electrical installation will be used on the Audi TTE and the revived Lamborghini Urraco sports coupe.
Despite the increasing popularity of electric cars, until they can completely replace the classic sports cars with ICE. For some time they will coexist together.
