Swiss Morand Cars wants to build the first of its kind hypercarMay 4, 2021
The Swiss company Morand Cars has announced plans to launch an innovative hypercar in 2023, which will be offered with hybrid and electric powertrains.
As is often the case with recently announced cars like this, the unnamed electric car currently only exists in the virtual world. However, the company hopes the hybrid prototype will be launched before the end of this year, while the electric prototype should be ready for release in 2022.
The car will be based on a carbon fiber monocoque and, according to its designers, the exterior will be made of a flax-based composite material known as Amplitex.
The hybrid will be powered by a 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V10 engine producing 690 hp. and a torque of more than 542 Nm. This engine will be mated to an electric motor-generator that will be positioned between the engine and a seven-speed Xtrac transaxle. The car will also be powered by an electric motor at each front wheel with a total output of around 1,100 hp. It will also have a 4.5 kWh battery providing a 50 km electric range.
As for the all-electric version of the hypercar, it will be powered by four permanent magnet motors that drive the gearbox and develop 1950 hp. These engines will be powered by a 70 kWh battery.
“We are working on a revolutionary technology with elements that have a higher energy density than those used in Formula E electric racing cars (we are talking about 180 Wh / kg),” said former Le Mans team manager Benoit Moran, who created the company with former Lotus F1 Team Manager and McLaren F1 Race Director Eric Bouillet.
Both hybrid and electric versions of the hypercar will cost around 2,300,000 Swiss francs, for a total of 73 units to be built.
Not so Danvo, AutoTImesNews wrote that the blogger spoke in detail about the Swedish hypercar Koenigsegg Jesko. Copies of the new Swedish hypercar Koenigsegg Jesko, presented in the second quarter of this year, will go to the company’s customers in 2023. In the meantime, bloggers were able to spend several hours with one of these cars and shoot a detailed review.
