Suzuki once again update the crossover, which has lost buyers because of the Hyundai VenueJune 26, 2019
For the premiere is preparing a modernized SUV Vitara Brezza. The model can get a new engine, in addition, it will expand the list of available equipment.
Cross-Vitara Brezza of the joint company Maruti Suzuki debuted in 2016, the model length of 3995 mm was created specifically for the Indian market. The SUV quickly gained popularity – in its debut year it took the second place in the SUV segment, losing to Hyundai Creta (Kreta gained 92,926 owners, Brezza – 85,168), and by the end of 2017-2018. Maruti Suzuki is India’s best selling crossover (140,945 and 155,466 Brezza respectively sold).
This year for SUV also started well, almost every month it showed a positive trend. However, in May, sales fell immediately by 44% to 8781 copies. Buyers from Vitara Brezza took the Hyundai Venue budget cross (the length doesn’t exceed four meters either – tax privileges are set for these machines in India): Korean started on the Indian market on May 21, and in just a couple of weeks it sold 7049 units. Against this background, it was reported that Maruti Suzuki is preparing to submit an updated crossover. By the way, the company refreshed the model just a year ago, then the cross received a robotic box. But the upcoming modernization will be bigger.
According to the local publication Team-BHP, the main thing for Vitara Brezza could be the 1.5-liter K15B gasoline engine with 105 hp (138 Nm) – this engine is in the range of other cars Maruti Suzuki, they are equipped, for example, Ciaz sedan and compact Ertiga. In the last two models, the engine is paired with a starter-generator, which stores energy when braking (the manufacturer calls the system Smart Hybrid) – it is possible that this “overhang” will be in the crossover.
The current Vitara Brezza is only available with a fiat turbo diesel 1.3 DDiS with a capacity of 90 hp. (200 Nm), in addition to the robotic box of the model, a five-step “mechanic” is still put, the drive is only the front one. As for the future of diesel, the information is still different: the same portal Team-BHP assumes that another diesel engine will replace the 1.3 engine, powered by Suzuki (1.5, 95 hp), and some media believe that the company does deprive cross diesel.
A restyled SUV should expand the list of equipment – supposedly there will be a sunroof and side airbags (the actual Vitara Brezza has only two front doors, but they are already in the basic version). Note, in the arsenal of Hyundai Venue there are not only the hatch and side “airbags”, but also the curtain airbags.
The exact timing of the premiere of the updated Vitara Brezza has not yet been announced. Meanwhile, if a gasoline engine is really added to the cross, then the model should become cheaper. Actual SUV today costs from 768,000 rupees. The base Hyundai Venue will be cheaper because it has a gasoline engine: the price of a Korean with an aspirated 1.2 (83 hp) starts at Rs 650,000. But diesel Venue (1.4, 90 hp) is more expensive than the model Maruti Suzuki – from 775,000 rupees.
