Sales of Jimny new generation will start in Japan. Suzuki also shared details about the global version of the model.

In the home market, the new Jimny, like its predecessor, is available in two versions: standard, without wheel arch extensions (this version fits into the dimensions of the cay-cars), and full-size. The latter is also a global version, and in Japan it is named Jimny Sierra.

The SUV retained a ladder-type frame, continuous axles, a spring suspension, a rigidly connected all-wheel drive and a downshift in the transfer case. The length of the new global Suzuki Jimny without a hood on the spare wheel is 3 480 mm, which is 195 mm less than the predecessor (with a hood – 3,645 mm, it is 50 mm smaller). The width of the fourth generation model is 1 645 mm (+45 mm in comparison with the previous Jimny), the height is 1,725 mm (+20 mm). The wheelbase is the same – 2 250 mm. The ground clearance increased by 20 mm and reached 210 mm.

The Japanese Jimny Sierra has slightly different dimensions: 3 550/1 645/1 730 mm. The dimensions of the standard Jimny in Japan: 3 395/1 475/1 725 mm. The wheelbase for both versions is the same as for a global SUV, but the ground clearance simple Jimny is 205 mm.

The novelty is offered to the Japanese with a two-tone painting of the body. Most likely, such versions will be in other countries. Like the exterior, the interior of the model is also completely redesigned, while it retains a laconic design – no color inserts.

Jimni is equipped with a new four-cylinder atmospheric K15B in volume of 1,5 liters capacity of 102 hp (130 Nm). The standard SUV in Japan also received a new Keicar engine – the R06A gasoline turbo engine with a capacity of 660 cubic centimeters with a yield of 64 hp (96 Nm). Both engines are still combined with a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic transmission.

Depending on the equipment for the new Suzuki Jimny, there are: LED optics, multimedia system with touch screen, air conditioning or climate control, keyless access to the cabin, cruise control, automatic emergency braking, collision avoidance, blind zone monitoring and recognition traffic signs.

In Japan, just Jimny costs from 1,458,000 yen. The new Jimny Sierra will cost a minimum of 1,760,000 yen.

The company Suzuki has not yet announced the price and timing of sales of a new generation SUV in other countries. It is possible that the public premiere of the European version of Jimny will be held within the framework of the Paris Motor Show, which will open in October this year. Then, probably, they will start accepting orders.
