Suzuki Ertiga grows versions against the background of falling demand: first “sport”, then crossoverMarch 11, 2019
The Japanese brand announced the premiere of the second-generation compact van. At the same time, photos of a special version without any camouflage appeared on the web.
The standard new Ertiga debuted in the spring of 2018, the first market for the model was Indonesia. In August, there was also shown a “sportive” version of the van, but that car was represented only as a concept. Now the serial “sports” version is ready for the premiere, the people of Indonesia will also be the first to receive it. So far, the local Suzuki division has distributed one new video teaser with the date of the presentation – March 22nd. However, such cars have already arrived to the dealers, and some even put up a “sporty” compact van in a shopping center, and journalists did not fail to take advantage of it – the pictures of the new modification were published by AutonetMagz.
The version “for sport” received a prefix GT for the title. From the usual compactvan, this option is different mesh grille, the presence of an aggressive body kit with red stripes, painted in black rims and increased spoiler. There are no photos of the interior yet, however, it is unlikely that it has been seriously modified, only a contrasting stitch and colored decorative elements probably appeared inside. Recall, the model is already in the “base” has a seven-seater salon.
The engine also did not change: in Indonesia, the compact van is available with a K15B gasoline engine of 1.5 liters and 104 hp (138 Nm). The standard Ertiga engine is combined with a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic transmission. Whether the two gearboxes will be offered for the Ertiga GT is not yet known. Four-wheel drive model is not in principle.
The price of the “displaced” van has not yet been announced. Apparently, the new version will be the most expensive in the range. Regular second generation Ertiga costs from 196 000 000 to 240 000 000 local rupees.
Note, Ertiga pretty well started on the Indonesian market: the model went on sale in May 2018, then it gained more than 4,400 owners. From June to November, dealers sold around 2000-2500 cars per month, in December more than 3300 units were sold. However, in January 2019 in Indonesia only 890 customers stopped the choice on the new Ertiga. Yes, the first month of the year is not the best for sellers of cars, although, for example, the Mitsubishi Xpander van, one of the main competitors of the Suzuki model, turned out to be in the “minus”, but still sold in 5700 copies (-19%).
Meanwhile, Suzuki will continue to expand the range of modifications of its compact van. So, recently a fragment from the report of the Indonesian office of the brand was posted on the Web, according to which by the end of 2019 a certain SUV based on Ertiga will be presented. Most likely, this is a cross-version with a protective body kit and increased ground clearance.
In addition to Indonesia, the new Ertiga is still being sold in India today. There, too, a “sporty” version will soon appear, and in this country such a version may turn out to be six-seater.
