Devel Motors has a problem with engine adaptation and aerodynamics
Road & Track sources report that Devel Motors, based in Dubai, has temporarily suspended the development of the 5,000-hp Devel Sixteen hypercar. The company faced a number of problems that make it impossible to start the machine into mass production. Also, the project left the main technical partner – Manufattura Automobili Torino (MAT).
According to Road & Track, the 12.3-liter V16 with a capacity of 5007 horsepower and 4771 Nm of torque was never able to adapt for use on ordinary roads. The engine still does not have an appropriate cooling system. In addition, in Devel Motors do not know how to keep the car on the road at speeds of more than 480 kilometers per hour.
It was assumed that Devel Sixteen can accelerate to a hundred kilometers per hour in 1.8 seconds. Its maximum speed will be more than 515 kilometers per hour. Engineers Steve Morris Engines and Manifattura Automobili Torino, who also took part in the construction of SCG 003 and Apollo Intensa Emozione, were attracted to the development of the hypercar.
In addition to the Devel Sixteen, in the line of Devel Motors is a three-axle SUV Sixty. In the movement of the car leads 6.7-liter diesel V8 with 700 horsepower and 1000 Nm of torque. From zero to 60 miles per hour (97 kilometers per hour) Devel Sixty is able to accelerate in 5.8 seconds.
