Supercar Ginetta Akula surprised by the units

The car got a very aggressive look, with a lot of different types of aerodynamic surfaces, channels and air intakes. The coupe is built around a carbon fiber chassis with exterior panels of the same material.

The recently promised Ginetta supercar was declassified on the Web before the official premiere of the car in Geneva. It is not fully disclosed – for example, the interior is not represented. Moreover, even the name of this model, the British promise to announce only at the auto show, as well as to indicate the exact price (while the approximate order is marked “up to 400 thousand pounds”). But now it is clear how the coupe looks and what kind of engine it has under the hood.

The intricate design of the rims, the front fenders with huge ventilation slots, exhaust pipes on the thresholds adjust the combat mood. The length of the compartment is 4640 mm, width – about 1.9 m, and the base – 2.6.

From the engine and start. According to Autocar, Ginetta has created its own. This is an aspirated V8 6.0 with an aluminum-machined block and a dry sump lubrication system. Recoil 608 hp and 705 N • m. According to the head of the firm Lawrence Tomlinson, engineers are thinking about the thousandth version, without explaining whether such a return will be achieved by increasing the volume or will hoist any type of boost to the same unit. In any case, until the model enters the market as atmospheric, and this, according to the creators, is good, because it provides a clear linear response to pressing the gas pedal.

In the commercial, a new supercar (it flashes at the end) is presented as the ideological heir of both the past road Ginetta, and the newly built sport prototype for endurance racing (category LMP1) of the same brand.

The sequential six-speed gearbox, controlled by the steering wheel petals, is also a Ginetta’s own project. This robotized transmission is interlocked with the rear differential, and with a motor (and with double clutch) it is connected by a short carbon fiber transmission shaft. The engine is installed in front of the cabin, but within the wheelbase. So its rear part is located almost under the center console itself, and the static weight distribution of the model is almost perfect 49% to 51% in favor of the rear axle.

The car uses double-wishbone suspension with push rods and spring shock absorber blocks placed closer to the center of the car. Surprisingly, there is a space under the trunk inside that can hold two full golf bags. And in general, the car promises to be practical: there is climate control, a rear-view camera and parking sensors, navigation, electronic parking brake.

Among the few characteristics are the model and dimension of the tires: Michelin Pilot Sport 4, 275/35 ZR19 in front and 305/30 ZR20 in the rear. Brake system brand Alcon with carbon-ceramic discs. The downforce at a speed of 160 km / h reaches the equivalent of 376 kg.

Model curb weight is only 1150 kg, which largely determines the dynamics. True, the acceleration from zero to hundreds is not disclosed, but the maximum speed should be 200 mph (322 km / h) or slightly higher. The first deliveries to customers are scheduled for January 2020. Fourteen orders have already been received for the car, which has not yet been properly represented. At the same time in 2020, the British intend to collect twenty copies, and in subsequent years to produce 30-50 pieces per year.

The authors of the compartment were inspired by the image of the ocean predator, but also wanted to convey the character of the Soviet / Russian nuclear submarines, known under the NATO code Akula. In the understanding of the British, Akula class multipurpose submarines capable of destroying submarine, surface and coastal targets are also predators that roam in the ocean.
